He earned a degree in Corporate Finance from UGA under full scholarship. Among a host of UGA honors, one of his most treasured honors was being elected president of the Zeta Iota chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. Kendall says he was inspired to law from two sources. One was a legal television serious popular in the 1980s called “L.A. Law,” which initially piqued his interest in the legal field. As he began to explore the field, Kendall says he realized the importance of the court system to the Civil Rights movement. Landmark court cases decided by the Courts in that fight were a major inspiration to his pursuing a legal career. A recipient of the Calloway Scholarship, Kendall is a graduate of the University of Alabama School Of Law and is licensed to practice in both Alabama and Georgia. Kendall is married to Samarria Munnerlyn Dunson. Samarria, a lawyer, is director of the Office of Compliance and Ethics for the Alabama Department of Public Health. Kendall and Samarria have three children. The Dunsons worship at both First Baptist Church and Resurrection Catholic Church. In his spare time, Kendall is an avid golfer and reader. He loves science fiction TV shows and movies. He says he is also forced to watch more Nick Junior and Disney Junior than he cares to admit at the behest of his daughters. Allen, Sr. mobilized sixteen young black men at the University of Georgia. With the support of William Kennedy, they formed the first interest group of prospective Kappas. The Athens Alumni Chapter supported the prospective chapter throughout the charter process. On April 16, 1971, Province Polemarch Joseph Johnson and the Athens Alumni Chapter chartered the Zeta Iota Chapter at the University of Georgia. Zeta Iota Chapter Charter members were Regero Sampson, Ric Gilmore, Henry Childs, JuDonn Adams, Donald Perry, James Harvey, Joe Ripley, Vernon Neely, Charles Benton, Joe Tate, Ralph Bryant, Levert Hood, Sam Smiley, William Kennedy, Jackie Davis, and Jeff Brooks. Since the chapter’s inception, Zeta Iota has worked to cultivate the intellectual, professional, spiritual, and social development of its members. More than half a century later, the chapter remains committed to developing leaders and equipping them for a lifetime of success. Zeta Iota is engaged on the campus of the University of Georgia and remains active within the Athens community. The Zeta Iota chapter has attained some of the highest achievements throughout the Southeastern Province and Grand Chapter levels of Kappa Alpha Psi. A chapter member has earned the distinction of Grand Junior Vice Polemarch. Four have served as Southeastern Province Junior Vice Polemarchs. Four members have been recognized as Guy L. Grant awardees. Chapter members continue to serve their fraternity at every level.
